How to Repair and Maintain Tower Cranes?

2024-10-18

1.Repair and maintenance of metal structural parts
1. Strictly implement the scrapping standards for crane steel structures.
2. The main load-bearing structural parts should be checked for metal fatigue strength, weld cracks, structural deformation, damage, etc. The key welds and the base materials of the welding heat-affected zones of the main load-bearing structural parts should be checked. If any abnormalities are found, they should be handled. The inspection of structural parts should be carried out according to the following procedures.
(1) Daily inspection: The tower crane should be inspected once every 80 hours of work. When the tower crane driver changes shifts, he should check the tightness of the bolts at each connection part. If there is any looseness, it should be tightened in time.
(2) When the tower crane makes abnormal sounds, or there is an error in operation, or the safety protection device of the tower crane fails, it should be inspected and recorded.
(3) When a project is completed and the tower crane is disassembled, it should be inspected in detail by engineering technicians and professional maintenance personnel, and records should be kept.
3. During transportation, efforts should be made to prevent structural parts from deformation and collision damage.
4. Spray paint once every six months to one year. Before painting, remove rust, oil stains and other dirt from the metal surface.

2. Wire rope and its maintenance
1. During the use of wire rope, it should be prevented from looping, kinking, bending or sticking with debris, and prevented from friction with machinery or other debris.
2. After the tower crane is installed (before use), the wire rope should be lubricated with graphite grease. The wire rope should be lubricated according to the "Crane Lubrication Table" in the future.
3. The overall design of the tower crane does not allow the wire rope to have an unlimited life. If any of the following conditions occurs, it should be scrapped.
(1) The number of broken wires of the wire rope 6×19-d (d wire rope diameter) exceeds 5 within a 6d length, and the number of broken wires exceeds 10 within a 30d length.
(2) The number of broken wires of the wire rope 6×37-d (d wire rope diameter) exceeds 10 within a 6d length, and the number of broken wires exceeds 19 within a 30d length.
(3) The wire ropes are close together. Even if the number of broken wires does not exceed 5 within a 6d length, they should be scrapped.
(4) Although the wire rope has no broken wires, the wire rope is worn to 40% of its diameter, or the wire rope is reduced by 7% or more relative to the nominal diameter, or the wire rope is obviously bent, etc.
(5) The wire rope loses its normal shape and becomes deformed, such as waves, cage-shaped distortion, strand extrusion, wire extrusion, partial enlargement of the rope diameter, kinking, partial reduction of the rope diameter, partial flattening, and bending.
(6) The wire rope diameter is subjected to special thermal effects and a recognizable color appears on the outside.
Note: When lifting molten or hot metals, acid solutions, explosives, and flammable materials, the number of broken wires of the wire rope is halved.

3. Maintenance and repair of mechanical parts
(1) Keep all mechanisms clean at all times and clean all parts of the equipment in a timely manner;
(2) Check the oil level of each reducer. If the oil level is lower than the specified level, add oil in a timely manner;
(3) Check whether the air vents of each reducer can be exhausted freely. If blocked, clear them in time;
(4) Check the performance of each brake. If they are not sensitive and reliable, adjust them in time;
(5) Check the bolts at each connection. If they are loose or falling off, tighten and add them in time;
(6) Check various safety devices. If any failure is found, adjust them in time;
(7) Check the wire ropes and pulleys at each part. If excessive wear is found, deal with it in time;
(8) Check the lubrication of each lubrication part and add grease in time.
